 Does not work for cats or dogs

My next door neighbor, a sweet & kind hearted lady, has allowed a large feral cat colony to develop under her storage shed. She hates them but continues to feed & water them. The cats drive my dogs and her one dog crazy. However, she didn’t want me to call animal control so we agreed to use an animal repellent to drive them away.
Assured by my local feed store that this would run them off, I bought a bottle of the granules and a bottle of the spray. Each variety had a strong citronella smell. Yesterday I spread it thick in the area around and under her shed. I also sprayed the liquid on my side of the fence to try to get my dogs to give the cats some distance.
My dogs ignored the spray. I thought maybe it just evaporated. A few minutes ago my dogs and my neighbors dog were barking like crazy. This usually means the cats are out from under the shed. I looked over the fence and sure enough, the cats (about 10 of them) were out and lounging ON TOP of the sprinkled granules.
I can’t speak as to how well it works for squirrels, rabbits, skunks, etc, but it has no effect on cats or dogs. In fact, the way the cats were rolling around in it, I had to guess that they liked the smell.

We have used this to create a barrier around our dogs’ enclosed potty pen, which our indoor cat also hunts in… Before finding Sweeney’s, our cat was bringing in at least one ground squirrel a day through the dog door. Now we are down to one a month, if that. It does require refreshing more in the summer (hot, dry, windy No. Arizona), but we will continue to use it. Gettin’ too old to be chasing squirrels in the house!
