Wet it and forget it

I only ordered a half gallon of this product because I was skeptical that it would work as advertised. After applying it according to the directions I am now convinced that it actually does what it claims – i.e. removes moss, mold, mildew and stains from outdoor surfaces.

I have a wooden deck and stairs on my house that I applied this product to about a month ago. Just as they claim, each time it rains the product reactivates and goes to work. All of the green crud has disappeared. It does work better on horizontal surfaces than vertical as the instructions suggest but even on vertical surfaces where the rain does not reach the moss has almost vanished.

I plan to observe how it does for about 6 months and then reapply it if needed, although they claim that it will continue to work for up to a year. So far so good – it appears to be a good product.

UPDATE: 6-27-10 – I still agree with everything I wrote below as far as what an outstanding product Wet & Forget is – HOWEVER, One must wear a mask when spraying this product – It will make you feel sick. if the winds blows up and you get a mouthful or even just light spraying and sucking down the vapors….A few hours after spraying, it’ll zaps you of all energy, as well as light-headedness and rummy stomach aching, you’ll feel like just lying in bed for a day or two – I would absolutely recommend a breathing mask of some type for any spaying with this product, even light spraying. Wet & Forget is a great product as I described below, but I had to deducted a star for the obvious toxicity that it fails to mention on the label.

I live on the North Coast of of California, not far from the beach in a redwood forest and a fern haven….the tall redwood trees block out much of the sunshine in certain month’s of the year and I get a lot of moss on my roofs of my house, the four car, car port, etc., as well as the redwood decks that surround the house on three levels, I couldn’t really keep up with the green growing monster, everything was really starting to accumulate a thick green layer of what ….slime? And the roofs were thick, very thick with moss.

I read about Wet and Forget and since I despise using & scrubbing with bleach, and power-washing ruins the decks and the use of chemical products and the polluting goes along with it are the worst, I won’t even consider them.

So Wet and Forget was an obvious choice for me to try and consider. I’m sure you have already guessed….it mind-blowingly works…I’m still in the process of using it for the past two to three weeks when I have a chance to spray. I do test areas first then spraying it in areas right next to the areas I purposely don’t spray to test. …Now remember it works only exactly where one sprays it….it doesn’t crawl and grab the green slime if it hasn’t been sprayed, but it works exactly where it’s sprayed. And what it’s sprayed on, it will just sort of gradually kind of evaporate the slime…

As days go by, one might forget how bad the green slime or moss originally was, so that’s why I leave untreated test areas right next to the areas I do spray.

As days go by, after I’ve sprayed Wet & Forget slowly does the job and you keep telling yourself well, it wasn’t that bad of an area, but the test area right next to it proves that indeed it was.

I have also used it on one level of my roof and though it seems a bit slower working on the asphalt shingles (again it’s only been two weeks and the moss is thick, this product as I’ve read will keep on working for month’s to a year before needing to be sprayed again).

The roof now shows that all the moss (and it was thick) is dead and the roof is now amazingly, kind of cleaning itself up each day, to look as it did when I laid down the roof many years ago.

Anyway, it’s not hard to read into how I feel about this product…but what’s really cool is how easy it is to apply and how it brings the value back to ones home…..just as important is not having to spend days scrubbing & rinsing with bleach or chemicals or worst having to spend a small fortune having some roof cleaning dudes come in and clean the moss, algae, and green slime away, the so called “professionals” – time is indeed money.

Give Wet and Forget a try. But man, you really do have to have some patience and then I believe you will be extremely pleased.

works very well

I sprayed this product as directed on the few areas around the house that had mold or moss growing. The painted wood siding on my shead. Redwood fascia and some cedar shingles on the north side of the house. I even sprayed it on the north side of some trees, just to see what would happen. Before I knew it, the green stuff was gone. Even on the tree roots. This product is a man’s way to get rid of mold, moss, & mildew.
